Buxton Kubik Dodd
Every project has its own unique challenges, but when an interior designer has the opportunity to design her own offices, the pressure is on. Located on the top floor of a prominent but traditionally-styled building in Springfield, MO, the designer chose to take a different approach on the interior. The interior is a lively contemporary contrast of light neutral painted walls with punches of accent colors in bright cherry red, orange, and hot pink with dark expresso faux wood floors and furniture. Capitalizing on the opportunity for tall or vaulted ceilings, the designer gave the impression of a larger space than actually exists by varying the ceiling heights and shapes. All the Buxton-Kubik-Dodd employees work in an open environment since collaboration and teamwork are essential to producing a quality creative product for their clients. With the exception of the doors into the conference room which are etched with the company logo pattern, there are no other doors to act as barriers for good communication. The conference room and corridor also prominently display some of the firm’s work as their artwork. The Sample Library is any designer’s dream. Although located in a space without windows, the blacked out ceiling with its suspended grid hold simple fluoresent fixtures equipped with two temperatures of lights switched separately for accurate color matching of fabrics. This space houses all the essential tools, samples, and equipment needed to efficiently and efectively pull together all elements of an architecture or interior design project.
