Marlin Office Renovation

One of the proudest moments for an interior designer is when a long-time, satisfied client asks for a remodel of a previously successful project.  When Joyce Buxton completed the first interior remodeling for the Marlin Company in 1996, that project was a 2000 winner of the how magazine international design award for unique workspaces.  Now ten years later, the Owner was ready to give the functional but well-worn space a facelift to provide a fresh environment for their creative advertising staff. While many of the interior products (the tackable acoustical walls, black metallic display walls, stair railings, existing furniture), continued to look and perform well, other interior elements (carpeting, lighting, upholstery, task chairs, and paint) were ready for replacement. Of course any interior remodeling is more complicated than new construction because of the transitions between the old and the new, construction disruption to the functioning business operation, and budget and schedule constraints, but the design team was sensitive to those challenges.  The success of the finished 9,470 space was felt when the client called to say, “We loved our old interior, but now it feels like a completely new office”.
